Filming Information

The dates we will be filming are the 2nd -4th of March, We have decided to shoot over 3 days to enable us to have plenty of time at filming and making sure we achieve the highest quality footage meaning we will have steady camera work and not worry about having to rush the filming

The times for filming will be between 9am – 12pm, allocating filming times was hard to choose as the actors have busy lives so we needed a time slot where everyone was available and we decided in the early hours of the days we have stated previously. We didn’t choose late times, where the actors were also free, because when we practiced filming with the camera, the footage at night didn’t have a good quality compared to filming during light hours. As well as time being a factor we also wanted certain weather conditions. For example we didn’t really want a really sunny day because otherwise it would change the mood of our opening sequence.

The set we have chosen is down a road called Glanmire – This location was chose for numerous reasons. One reason is because it’s located near to where Garry & I live so it’s easy to film and we are able to be flexible with our time. Also we believe that the location has the right attributes for our film, these are a long straight of road and good scenery for the backgrounds. Another important reason we chose this road for out set is because we can access good heights for our camera shots allowing us to get more variety with our shots

We will require makeup, mostly for one of our major scenes. We intend to use a little bit of white make-up for some, this is because it will give a clear indication that the person is either unwell or dead in the scene and it will be an effective tool. Our other characters will not have make up as we will not need it for our story. For one of our dead characters we require fake blood so we have researched into it and found a way how to create very realistic blood which will be used in filming

We will not use any dramatic costumes in the opening sequence. The characters are dressed with casual clothing to signify its everyday life, showing they were having a normal day before something happened. Our main character will be dressed smarter than are other characters, mostly to give the effect when he wakes up that he went out somewhere last night e.g. a party or meal

We have decided to use a couple of props in the film. These are a phone, newspaper and fake blood. We decided to use the phone so we could show that there is no battery on the phone when he needs help the most, which is a English technique called irony, also we will use a newspaper in the scene, this will be useful because it will show the date of the incident and from there on we will lead into a flashback which will enable the viewer to understand that this event has just recently happened. Lastly we will be using fake blood around the eyes of our deceased characters, this is used to emphasize when a character dies showing that it’s an abnormal death and this shouldn’t be happening, this adds to the mystery of our piece.

We are not using any external lighting devices as we want to have the lighting to be very natural to enhance the setting where we are going to be in. In the flashback we will emphasize the lighting a bit to show the audience it is a different scene, this is for continuity reasons. We will achieve this lighting effect hopefully by using editing software or if we can not receive the effect desired when we practice our editing skills we will use an external light source

We are not using a lot of technical equipment for our piece, but we will be using a handheld camera, a tripod to allow steady movement with our camera angles and shots. We will be using an external lighting source for our flashback to emphasize the flashback sequence. We will being using a couple of computer programs to help us edit the movie, these include adobe premiere and after effects which will help us edit the movie the way we would like it to be.
